Sushi Rice
This is a simple yet delicious sushi rice recipe. The proportions yield the ideal texture and flavor profile for sushi. You might be able to purchase sushi rice and rice vinegar from your local grocery store, but it can also be found at Wegman’s or Amazon.

2 cups uncooked sushi rice
3 cups water
1/3 cup rice vinegar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3 tablespoons of white sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
Directions
- Rinse the 2 cups of rice in cool water until it runs clear. Add rice and 3 cups of water to a medium saucepan. Boil the mixture, then reduce heat to low, cover and cook for 20 until the water is absorbed.
- While rice is cooking, over medium heat, mix together 1/3 cup of rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, 3 tablespoons of white sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Cool the mixture.
- Pour vinegar mixture into rice. As the rice dries and you stir, the rice will become less wet.
