Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of high-quality Italian bread

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 6-8 cloves garlic, minced or finely grated

  • 4 tablespoons fresh basil, finely chopped

  • 4 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • Optional: 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (for extra garlic flavor)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise, creating two long halves.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the 2 sticks of softened butter, 6-8 minced garlic cloves, 4 tablespoons of fresh basil, 4 tablespoons of fresh parsley, 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, and 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder. Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
  • Spread the garlic butter mixture generously on both halves of the bread, making sure to cover the entire surface.
  • Place the bread halves on the prepared baking tray. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and crispy around the edges.
  • Remove the garlic bread from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Cut into slices and serve while still warm.
