Simple Syrup
I was shocked to learn that some people buy simple syrup when it’s so easy to make at home. The benefit of homemade simple syrup is that you can choose a healthier sweetener like monk fruit.

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Directions
- In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously until the sugar has completely dissolved. This usually takes about 5 minutes.
- Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat and let the simple syrup cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, transfer the simple syrup to a clean glass jar or bottle for storage. You can use a funnel to make pouring easier. Store the simple syrup in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. It’s ready to use in your favorite beverages, cocktails, desserts, or any recipe that calls for a sweet syrup.
